A little about me:
Hello, my name is Ruthann and I am currently a student at the University of Utah in the College of Education for Elementary Education. I love spending my time in the classroom with students. When I am working with the students I feel that I am exactly where I am suppose to be.I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but moved to California when my new husband joined the Marine Corp, we were stationed in a small town just north of San Diego. I loved the time we spent in California, but Utah was where our family was, so we finally found our way back home, January 2006.
In 2008 I had my one and only son, who I love more than I could have ever imagined. For the first four years of his life, I was able to stay home with him. When he began preschool I decided it was time to go back to school. In fall of 2012, I returned to the University after more than 10 years. The first semester back I got a 4.0 and I have kept up with that trend (same one semester I got a 3.9) and have been on the Dean's list every semester.
We finally moved over the mountain and into the city. We bought our dream house in August 2013. My son will be starting first grade in a duel immersion school in Fall and he can't wait to teach me Spanish.
My love of Learning:
My love of learning started when I was very young. Every year on the first day of school I would come home more excited to start the school year, than I was the last year. I was always learning and striving to discover more. When I was in 8th grade, I had an Earth Science teacher that spiked my curiosity for science and from that moment on I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to be the one that introduced the power of knowledge to a child. I wanted to nurture a child’s willingness to learn, to watch the ideas bloom into full blown accomplishments. I want to see a child’s face when they discover a new idea or way of thinking. I want to know that I made a difference in their life. Please visit my website Owls in Her Classroom.
